Privacy Policy

Home Rx ("we," "us") operates howtohomeit.com and the Home Rx app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions any time: rxhelp@howtohomeit.com.

What we collect

• Account information — name, email address, password (stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see it), and optionally your phone number and property address.
• Home details — information you choose to save, such as approximate year built, basement type, and your DIY comfort level.
• Photos and video — images of your home you upload with an order or to your account, including completion photos you attach to your house history. They're stored privately and are visible only to you and to us for the purpose of preparing your diagnosis.
• Your house history — the maintenance tasks and projects you log in the Almanac and Project Window when signed in, kept so your ledger follows your account.
• Order information — what you purchased and the details you submit on our intake form. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
• Local preferences — the Project Window and Almanacs save your chosen location and checked-off tasks in your own browser (localStorage) when you're not signed in, not on our servers.

How we use it

• To prepare and deliver your diagnosis, quote review, project guide, or workup.
• To process orders and send you transactional email (order confirmations, account emails, your reports).
• To respond when you contact us.
• To show localized weather and project-window information you request.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't send marketing email you haven't asked for. We never share your details with contractors, advertisers, or lead-generation services — that's the whole point.

Services we rely on

We use a small number of processors to run the site, each receiving only what's needed for their job:

• Netlify — website hosting and intake form submissions.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Supabase — accounts, saved home profiles, house history, and private photo/report storage.
• Plausible — privacy-friendly, cookie-less visitor analytics.
• Open-Meteo, Zippopotam, and OpenStreetMap Nominatim — weather data and location lookup for the Project Window. Only the location text or coordinates you enter are sent; no account information.
• Google Fonts — typefaces for the site.

Cookies and local storage

We don't run advertising or tracking cookies. Our analytics (Plausible) are cookie-less. Your browser stores a session token when you sign in (so you stay signed in) and your tool preferences (location, checked tasks). Clearing your browser data removes these.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account information, photos, reports, and house history for as long as you have an account so your records stay available to you. To delete your account and everything attached to it, email rxhelp@howtohomeit.com from your account email and we'll remove it.

Children

Our services aren't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we materially change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
